Vulnerability Assessment & Penetration Testing (VAPT)

Find how exposed your network, cloud and Active Directory really are before an attacker does.

Automated vulnerability scans only scrape the surface. A SentryArk penetration test simulates a real attacker against your network, cloud and identity systems, using the same techniques modern threat actors use — and shows you exactly how far they could get.

External and internal network testing

External testing targets everything reachable from the internet: routers, firewalls, VPN gateways, intrusion detection systems and exposed servers. It answers the question every board asks — can someone break in from outside?

Internal testing starts from inside your local network, as a compromised laptop or a malicious insider would. Our experts look for privileged information, uncover credentials and attempt to compromise virtual and physical machines, so a breach of your perimeter does not become a breach of everything.

Cloud security assessment

Cloud providers secure the platform; securing what you build on it is your job. We review your overall cloud security posture, access control and key management, incident management, data protection in transit and at rest, network segmentation and firewall policies, and risk and compliance controls — remotely or on site.

Active Directory assessment

Active Directory holds the keys to the organisation: user credentials, configuration and authentication. That makes it the first target attackers go after once inside. We assess forest and domain trust configuration, administrative groups and service accounts, and group policy, then give you a prioritised action plan to close the paths an attacker would use.

Beyond the scanner report

Vulnerability scanners produce long lists ranked by score, many of them false positives or unreachable in practice. We validate every result by hand, remove the noise and focus on the attack paths that matter: Active Directory misconfigurations, credential reuse, insecure protocols such as LLMNR and SMBv1, and trust between systems. Every finding comes with evidence, so your team spends its time fixing real risk.

Assumed breach

Most intrusions start with one compromised laptop. On request we start from the same position — a standard domain user on a standard workstation — and attempt credential theft, privilege escalation and lateral movement under agreed rules of engagement. Hybrid environments are covered too, including the paths that let an on-premises compromise reach your Entra ID or cloud tenant.

How an assessment runs

  1. Planning and scoping — IP ranges, cloud accounts, testing windows, exclusions and contacts agreed in writing.
  2. Discovery and enumeration — hosts, services, cloud resources and directory objects mapped.
  3. Vulnerability analysis — scanner output combined with manual checks, and every result validated.
  4. Exploitation and lateral movement — confirmed weaknesses safely exploited and chained to show business impact.
  5. Reporting and retest — risk ratings, proof and fix steps for every finding, and a free retest once you have patched.

What we test

  • External network — internet-facing servers, firewalls, VPNs and exposed services
  • Internal network — what an attacker or malicious insider can reach from inside
  • Cloud — AWS, Azure and GCP configuration, identity and access, data exposure
  • Active Directory — forest and domain trusts, group policy, privileged accounts and paths to Domain Admin

What you receive

  • Executive summary for leadership
  • Strategic strengths and weaknesses
  • Every finding with evidence and a high, medium or low risk rating
  • Step-by-step remediation guidance
  • Assets and data reached during the assessment
  • A free retest once you have patched

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a vulnerability assessment and a penetration test?

A vulnerability assessment lists known weaknesses, mostly with scanning tools. A penetration test goes further — our consultants try to exploit those weaknesses, chain them together and show what an attacker could actually reach.

Will testing disrupt our systems?

Testing is agreed in advance with a defined scope, time window and rules of engagement. Exploitation is done safely, and anything that could affect availability is discussed with you before it is attempted.

How long does a penetration test take?

It depends on scope. We size every engagement after a short scoping call and confirm the timeline in the proposal before work starts.

Who performs the testing?

Our own technical team, holding certifications such as OSCE, CRTO and CEH.
